As some of you know, I've been working on a new line of fiberglass fly rods. The prototypes are complete and I am happy with the tapers and the blank color. The color is called 'tobacco'. The lineup will be a 7'0"-#3-3pc., 7'6"-#4-3pc., and 8'0"-#5-3pc. There is a possibility that I will include a 8'3"-#6-3pc. to the lineup as well. The website www.fhpaddockflyrods.com should be up and running in late November of this year. The rod appointments has been a work in progress and the production rods will undergo a few changes in when compared to the prototypes (pictured below). The silk thread will be 'copper', instead of 'antique gold'. I have yet to decide if tipping will compliment the threadwork. There will be nickel silver winding checks on the rods, the rod inscriptions will be done in 'yellow' india ink. the reel seat and hardware will be changed to uplocking slide bands for all the models. Each model will have a slight hardware change in order to provide an optimun balance for the reel. The wood inserts will be a straight grained 'butternut'. The rods will be complete with a 'buttercup' (yellow) rod bag and a black aluminum rod tube with brass hardware. The rod actions are a progressive medium action.
